How to uninstall avifile-player from Ubuntu

Uninstall avifile-player

To uninstall just avifile-player package itself from Ubuntu execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove avifile-player

Uninstall avifile-player and it's dependent packages

To uninstall the avifile-player package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed on Ubuntu.

sudo apt-get autoremove avifile-player

Purging avifile-player

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of avifile-player from Ubuntu then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge avifile-player

To delete configuration and/or data files of avifile-player and it's dependencies from Ubuntu then execute:

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge avifile-player

video player for AVI/ASF/WMF files

Player for various AVI, ASF, WFM (with streaming support) files. Separate local installation of Windows DLL codecs might be needed for the better usage of this player. See README.debian for more information.
